Begin your journey south across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, often called the Switzerland of Morocco, and in Azrou to see Barbary macaques in cedar forests. After lunch in Midelt, continue through the palm groves of the Ziz Valley before reaching Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara. Enjoy dinner and overnight in a kasbah-style lodge.
Merzouga ➝ Khamlia ➝ Nomads ➝ Camel Trek ➝ Desert Camp

Spend the morning exploring Merzouga’s surroundings: visit Khamlia village for traditional Gnawa music, meet nomadic families, and discover fossil sites. Travel via Rissani (traditional market) and Erfoud before reaching Tinghir and the spectacular Todra Gorges, where you can walk along the canyon. Continue to the Dades Valley, famous for its kasbahs and unique rock formations, for dinner and overnight stay.
Dades ➝ Ouarzazate ➝ Aït Benhaddou

Drive the “Road of 1000 Kasbahs,” stop in Kalaat M’Gouna (roses valley), and visit Ouarzazate’s film studios. End the day at the UNESCO fortress of Aït Benhaddou, where you’ll stay overnight in a traditional guesthouse.
Aït Benhaddou ➝ Marrakech
Distance: ~190 km | ⏱ ~4 hours
Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Enjoy panoramic views, photo stops, and Berber villages along the way. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon and check into your riad or hotel. Evening free to explore Jemaa el-Fna square.
